A little planning before you take action you can help you to get the financial rewards you want without working so hard. You want the majority of your actions to take you closer to a closed transaction. Even though prospecting is how you fill your sales funnel, most sales people have a haphazard inefficient approach to prospecting. You can improve your prospecting efforts and get better results by developing a list of your most ideal future customers. Knowing who you’re focused on makes it easier to develop effective ways to approach them.
Keep a running list of all the next actions you need to take. Scan your list and choose the actions you’ll take and when you’ll take them based on the likelihood of that action resulting in a closed transaction. There’s no way you can do everything and you certainly can’t do everything at once, so prioritize your top three actions each day.
Hopefully you have both a large list of prospects and a large list of customers, and both need your attention. Develop a system to stay in front of both exceeding their expectations, deepening the relationship, and motivating them to refer you. Keep it simple, but have a clear objective for every contact. Plan out exactly how you want to connect with both your prospects and customers throughout the year. Then identify ways to make this contact as automatic as possible. And include ample opportunities for them to reach out to you when they’re ready to make a purchase faster.
Following these time management techniques you know what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. But you have to commit to taking right action to make it a reality. If you’ll just take at least three actions each day that move you closer to a closed transaction you’ll be amazed by your results. Doing this day in and day out enables you to have both time and money.
Results come from the actions you take, and you want those actions to become automatic for you. Repeating these time management skills on a daily basis will make them a habit. When you take more right actions it’s easier for you to get what you want, and getting what you want motivates you to continue to take them.
Going back to that list of all the next actions you need to take, as you look over your list you’ll realize you have things on your list that you don’t necessarily have to do. There are probably a lot of things on your list you do out of habit, or because you’re afraid to delegate them. You want to ruthlessly dump everything on your list that isn’t essential for you to do.

This time management tip is for sales professionals/business owners helping them to be more time effective and increase their sales. You like activity and lots of it because you think if you’re taking action you’re being productive but frequently you’re shooting yourself in the foot. First, let me ask you where is your greatest potential for immediate sales? The answer is, of course, your current customers. The people who bought from you once are highly likely to buy from you again and again and again. And among you’re customers you have customers who are responsive in that they buy from you occasionally and customers who are highly responsive in that they buy nearly everything you show them.
Because you’re entire financial security is dependent on sales you get that you need to focus on these people and give them a lot of your attention. But what you sometimes overlook are ways to get these sales with less work on your part. The end result you want is more sales with less work and you can get that if you just let your brain do the work over your legs.
If you want to increase your sales you want to spend more time in front of the people who buy from you. That means you need to have a set in stone plan for getting and keeping in front of those customers. Review your current customer base and determine how often you want to be either talking with or touching each and every one of them. The more valuable that customer is to you the more time and attention you want to give them. But if you don’t have a plan for when, how, and why you’re going to make those connections it won’t happen because: you’ll get busy and forget, you have to keep chasing them down, and no one wants to meet with you to waste their time.
When you have a schedule for how often you want that connection to happen the next step is to plan a single clear objective for each connection. You don’t want to waste your connection opportunities by using things like automatically generated “thinking about you” cards when you could be doing something that would really get the customers attention and appreciation. Take the same concept and make it valuable by including something of value in each card whether it be a way for the customer to get really good information, a coupon, something that recognizes them, a customer loyalty reward, etc.
You want a set number of those connections to involve a one-on-one conversation. These of course, are preset sales conversations. Because you already know when you want the next sales conversation to happen you can increase your time management skills by setting the appointment for the next sales appointment at the end of the current one.
Your customer’s will be eager to have and hold that next appointment when you can communicate the value they’ll be getting. This won’t be a problem for you to do if you just start thinking about things from their perspective. When you’re developing your plans think about what you can do to will add value during each appointment over the course of the whole year each and every year. As you’re talking to your customer you can let them know that in 3 months you want to meet with them again to help them to get, have, or experience something they’ll really want. You won’t have to keep calling and leaving voice mail and email messages to set your next appointment because you’ll already have it and they’ll want to keep it because they’re going to get something they want.

A project isn’t necessarily some gigantic undertaking that you’re involved in at work. A project is anything that requires more than one action on your part.
When you don’t break projects down into actions each time you look at the project on your list of things to do or each time you think about it you have to make a decision. You have to decide what your next step should be or you decide to think about it later. So every time you’re faced with the project you doing unnecessary mental work that increases your level of stress.
So rather than having a list of projects you want to develop a list of next actions. When you’re feeling overwhelmed because you have so much to do and not enough time and you’re looking at a list of projects it only makes you feel more confused and frustrated because you’re too frazzled to make a good decision about what you should do next. Contrast that to when you’re in the same situation and you have a list of actions in front of you. When you have a list of actions there are fewer decisions to make. You can look at your list and scan down the list and choose one action you can do now. There are two ways you can approach that choice.
Make that choice based on either the amount of time you have available right now or what’s most important. Each and every day you have odd time lots anywhere from 5-15 minutes that you can either make use of or waste away. These odd time lots are too short to delve into anything too complicated, but they can be just enough time to clean up a few little things like emptying your inbox in your email.
That choice may also be made based on priority. Now as you scan your list of actions you’re looking for the one most important action you can take. This is the action that has the potential to produce the greatest results. As you get in the habit of making choices based on their greatest potential for value you’re developing good time management skills that will help you to get more value from your time and have less stress.
Get more focused by having a list of next actions. Don’t close shop for the day until you’ve had a chance to scan your list actions to choose the 1-3 most important actions you’ll take the next day. Plan when you’ll take those actions. If you get in the habit of doing this when the next day comes you’ll know exactly what you want to do and when and if you’ll hold yourself accountable you’ll get a lot more done with better results and less stress.

You start your day running to your first appointment. When you get there you find that you don’t have what you need. It’s time for you to slow down, and plan what you’re going to do before you take action. It seems counter intuitive, but you’ll get more done faster with less stress if you set aside proper planning time. You love action and you would rather be doing than thinking. You’re confusing activity with progress.
All that unfocused activity is making you tired and stressed because it isn’t helping you to do the things that produce the best results. Start the day by planning your day the day before so get organized. Take 15 minutes before you end your day to plan the first thing you’ll do the next day, and what you’ll need to do it so you can start your day right and get better results.
When you’re planning how you’ll start your day start with the most important thing you could do that day. If possible schedule your most important appointments, phone calls, and actions for first thing in the morning. Make sure whatever action you’ll be taking has a clear objective. If you have an appointment know exactly the outcome you expect from the appointment. The same holds true for phone calls. Know exactly who you will call, have an agenda for the call, and identify what you want to accomplish as a result of that call. Whether that be an appointment, an agreed upon next action, a referral, or a closed sale.
Without clear objectives you waste valuable time and you get poor results. You’re running around working harder than you need to and you aren’t getting the results you want. If you don’t know exactly what you want from your actions you can’t expect someone else to know.
Even though you like to solve problems and make things happen you need to stop and think before you take those actions. Just because a customer or prospect calls doesn’t mean you should drop everything and immediately respond. That isn’t a demonstration of good time management skills. It just demonstrates that you’d rather be reactive than proactive.
Develop a planning habit so you can better serve your customers, prospects, and yourself. Reacting is a habit that causes you to receive poorer results than you could be. Enjoy greater success and more free time by planning before you act and having a clear understanding of your objectives before you take action.

One of the best time management tips when it comes to routines and habits is starting your day the night before. Before you end the day decide exactly how you will invest your time the next day. By that I mean know exactly who you will call, in what order, and have all the contact information at your finger tips for when you start the day tomorrow.
Know exactly when you will review your email and voice mail and respond. If you allow the customer and others to dictate how and when you respond you’re training them to disrespect and ill use your time, and that is costing you both time and money. You can’t predict the behavior of others, but you can predict yours. Everything isn’t a crisis so stop allowing every problem a customer has turn into one. When you think about the problems customers have you begin to see that most problems aren’t new, and that means you can develop a procedure for dealing with and responding to them.
Procedures that help you deal with and respond to problems you can identify entire problems or parts of problems that you can delegate. Then rather than having to take all the individuals yourself you can have others do them for you and all you have to do is follow up to make sure everything is handled. Procedures provide a predictable way to deal with most of the problems that come your way so you can focus on the one to three most important actions for you to take each day rather than actions that don’t produce results.
