From all the local seminars and public workshops to the World Wide Web, there appears that so many are wishing of learning and improving time management skills. So if the demand is great and equally the supply is also great, why then so many people are still facing challenges regarding this type of management? First of all, time management is not just about time since it is already a constant. Second, this generation’s society is definitely facing more changes in a year than their ancestors experienced during their whole lifetimes.

Now that you know that managing is not just about time, but rather how we can handle changes through our self leadership capacity. Now, if we start to develop improvement in time management by looking at it through a different dimension, then we can now begin to actually comprehend some positive changes in our behaviors. We can perceive improved results from these changes.

To enhance these managing techniques, it requires the need to have an established goal setting procedures and written goals action plan for them. If we do not have goals, do we really care if we are prompt or not? Our attitude or those habits of our thoughts is another obstacle that keeps us from obtaining effectiveness in these skills. The moment you wake up, do you know exactly what you have to do first because you planned it the night before? Or do you at least wait until the very last moment to see what you are going to do in the next succeeding hours? Poor attitudes are demonstrative of some poor behaviors.

Creative Visualization Step By Step - Positively Affect The World And Your Own Success

Tuesday 23 December 2008 @ 11:12 pm

by Leon Edward
Creative visualization is the practice of attempting to alter your thoughts in order to positively affect the world around you. There are many ways that this can be done but the basic principle is usually the same. The purpose is to improve one’s surroundings via positive thinking.

While this may sound a lot like daydreaming there are a few key differences. When people daydream they are usually visualizing something from a third person perspective. During creative visualization it is important to picture everything from the first person point of view. The good things that you image must literally be unfolding around you just as they would in real life. You aren’t looking at things as if they were on a TV screen. You’re looking at them as if they’re really happening to you.

Another key difference in creative visualization is that you are performing these tasks with a purpose. You must believe that the things you desire are actually on the way to you. When you daydream, it is usually just an idle wish that you don’t really expect to happen. When practicing creative visualization you actually expect the best to happen.

Elements of creative visualization can be found in nearly every religion in the world in one form or another. Buddhists must visualize in order to practice their religion. Many Eastern religions believe in the power of creative visualizations. In the 19th century the concept came to the forefront of the New Thought movement. This movement was spearheaded by such thinkers as Wallace Wattles. Wattles wrote the classic The Science of Getting Rich and it is still studied today by many people. The movie “The Secret” was spawned from the concepts in this very book. In it, Wattles writes that one must have a “clear mental image” of the things that they want. When coupled with faith, gratitude, and the expectant attitude, the vision is literally created around them.

What are some of the benefits that one can expect from practicing creative visualization? The sky is the limit! Everything is affected by what we image. You can improve health, relationships, financial resources, and any situation that you desire.

Many people have improved from poor health conditions simply by the concept of creative visualization. They have also used the same practice to go from broke to comfortable financially. So how do you specifically practice creative visualization?

The first step in creative visualization is to relax. The best way to do this is to get in a comfortable position. Lying flat on your back is a great position to be in if you can keep yourself from falling asleep. Then start to take deep breaths and relax each part of your body. Start at your toes and work your way up to the top of your head. Each time you breathe out, a different part of your body should be relaxing. When you’re done with this step you should feel completely relaxed in every part of your body. Again, try not to fall asleep. This is easier said than done sometimes, but with a little practice, it can be done.

The next step is to decide what you want and to actually picture it on the screen of your mind. The first time that you try this it will most likely be difficult. Your mind will probably jump around from one thought to the other. This is ok, as it is the natural way your mind works. However, when this happens just simply allow yourself to focus back on what you want.

Deciding what you want can also be difficult at times. We want so many things in life that it’s sometimes hard to narrow it down. However, if you really put some thought into it, one thing usually will feel right. It’s the one thing that would make your life better.

Once you decide what it is that you want, try to imagine it as if it was unfolding all around you in the present tense. Believe that it is actually happening. Faith is a very powerful force in your life and can be the difference in getting want you want. The longer you can devote to visualization, the better. However, 10 or 15 minutes is usually a good amount of time. Any amount of time is better than none.

Then try to think of your picture as often as you can throughout the day…the more often the better. Once you have formed the habit of doing this daily, your life will start to improve by leaps and bounds.

Creative visualization allows you to consciously attract what you want. What you do is you visualize or see images in your conscious mind. This is a powerful way of using mind power in programming thoughts into your subconscious mind.

Fundamental Principles of Classroom Time Management

Sunday 21 December 2008 @ 10:12 am

by Lucile Taylor
Teachers and teaching assistants seem to never run out of things to get done in the classroom and often, they complain that they simply do not have enough time to accomplish them. Unfortunately, they do not have a choice as to how many hours they have to teach a subject each week. Classroom time management takes into account the fact that classroom times are limited and helps teachers accomplish as much as they can realistically.

The fundamental principles of classroom time management is similar to any work environment. The teacher needs to define his or her class objectives and focus on these to make sure that no time is wasted. When goals are not clear, discussions and activities are likely to lose direction.

An important step in classroom time management is to establish the activities for the day and identify which to prioritize to make sure that key topics are covered first. When allotting time for tasks and exercises, give some allowance for miscellaneous things that also take up time like explaining instructions, answering students’ questions, setting up equipment and etcetera.

When planning your lessons, make sure to review your material thoroughly and do the exercises and problem sets to find out potential problems and causes of delay. Allow more time for complex or difficult concepts and exercises. Expect to answer more questions from students.

Remember that even with good classroom time management, there will be times when you will not accomplish what you have set out to do because a classroom is a dynamic environment and sometimes it is important to let the natural flow of a discussion or activity take over your plans if it means cultivating student participation. Always be ready to modify your lesson plans on demand.

Classroom time management is not just about meeting daily class objectives. Do not forget the bigger picture. You are teaching a course and not just a one-day or one-week class so make sure to take into account your learning objectives for the entire course as you plan your lessons and your schedule

As final classroom time management tips, make sure to tell you students what are your objectives for the day in class, what activities or exercises you have set out to do and the amount of time you have allotted for each activity. You can prepare an outline of this information and have it projected onto the board. Ensure you are finishing activities as you have scheduled by keeping an eye on the time. After class, evaluate how each class went and make changes if necessary for the coming week.

Time Management Tips For A More Productive Online Home Business

Friday 19 December 2008 @ 4:12 pm

by Cynthia Minnaar
Time management is important in order to make the best use of the few hours you have available if you are running your online home business part-time or to make sure you don’t waste the many hours that you do have available to build your home business if you are working full-time online.

It will pay off to learn how to use time wisely and to your advantage as it is not something you can get back and so is very precious. Running an online home business involves many different tasks and there are also many distractions on the internet, so time management skills will help you to make the best use of the hours you have available.

Let’s have a look at some key time management areas that you, as an online business owner, should be focusing on.

Firstly and most importantly before you can even begin thinking about time management you need to know why you are running a home business online or even thinking of starting one. What is your main goal? What is the biggest motivating factor that is going to drive you to work on your home business every day? What is going to spur you on through thick and thin, challenges, disappointments and set-backs? What is going to ensure that you never ever quit?

From my own personal point of view I hated working for a boss and wanted desperately to quit the corporate world. That spurred me on to work every spare minute I had to build my online home business. My biggest motivating factor now, having achieved that goal, is to ensure that I never have to go back to a job or work for a boss again.

Only once you have determined what your “why” is will you be able to move on to setting short and medium-term goals to enable you to achieve your ultimate goal i.e. your “why”.

Your goals should be set out in a logical format with daily stepping stones for your short-term goals which will enable you to achieve your medium-term goals which will keep you focused on achieving your ultimate goal. It is important to set realistic and achievable goals as well as check your progress on a daily basis to ensure you are utilizing your time effectively. Spend some time brainstorming and putting your goals down on paper and review them monthly.

Having determined what your goals are, you then need to know what you need to do every day in order to achieve them and you can do this by creating “To-Do Lists”. These lists will help keep you stay focused on what you need to do to build your online home business. Your first To-Do List should be your daily one and tick off each task once you have completed it.

It is important to prioritize your tasks namely: important and urgent. Some tasks may be important but not urgent. Also if you are a procrastinator, what helped me was making sure that I did the tasks I was putting off first then I knew they were out of the way and I found myself becoming far more productive.

A second To-Do List that you need to create is for those tasks that need to be done on a weekly basis. For larger projects that take more time, but are not particularly urgent, start a third To-Do List to ensure that you do not forget them.

Aim to do the urgent tasks, which may well not be business building tasks, as quickly as possible enabling you to then concentrate on the important tasks.

If you are part-time you may well find that you just do not have enough time to do all that you need to do in order to achieve your daily goals. Delegation or outsourcing is a vital part of time-management and so you need to make a list of what tasks you could outsource. This will save you a huge amount of time and enable you to concentrate on other productive tasks.

As an online home business owner you could consider outsourcing such tasks as the writing and distribution of articles, website design, submitting your site to the web directories, blogging, etc.

If you already run your online home business full-time it is still important to set goals and make “To-Do Lists” as it is so easy to get distracted and waste time working in your own home environment.

If you get into the habit of adopting these time management skills you will find that you will be able to earn an online income and ultimately achieve your online home business goals quicker.

Stop Procrastination in 4 Easy Steps

Tuesday 16 December 2008 @ 5:12 pm

by Sam Sander
Are you a victim of procrastination? Or are you unable to stop procrastinating? Do you often find yourself unable to meet deadlines because you spent too much watching TV, playing computer games or even sleeping?

Well, I was exactly like that just a few years ago. But, thankfully those days are in the PAST. These days, I can set goals and achieve them easily without any time consuming hassles. And you can do the same too.

All you need to do is manage your time now!

Here’s a few tips to get you started.

1. Plan your daily must-do activities: Draw up a to-do list. Preferably write it down on paper or even a white board in your office. Or, use a computer if you prefer. Include all the things that must be done today. No ifs or buts! These are the MUST-Do activities.

2. Prioritize the activities, with the more important ones taking precedence over the less important activities on the list. If there are important things to do, but not urgent enough to be worried about if not done, put them below the urgent ones. The idea is based on the established principle that 80% of rewards come from 20% of effort directed towards accomplishing important work.

3. Start working: Even if the deadline is 5 days from now or a month from now, starting out on an important project will help you avoid stress and do it well. When you start a major project just the day of the deadline, you are bound to stress out and leave out important points. Get in the habit of starting things before the deadline.

4. Start working bit by bit. Things may seem like huge mountains at first but it is important to stay calm. Afterall, you can only eat an elephant one bite at a time! And it takes time to digest…Just start working on the project or task on hand and don’t worry about getting it perfect. You still have a lot of time to iron out the details. Remember to start well before the deadline so you can focus on finishing the task and then ironing out the details. Trying to get everything right on first attempt is the best excuse used by procrastinators!

Procrastination is a deadly disease and it not only kills motivation but also your chances of success. Stop procrastinating right now and start achieving your goals TODAY!!

You can learn more about getting rid of procrastination and how to manage your time to achieve all your goals by reading this FREE ebook — “The Time Management Secrets that will Set You Free”.

by Lisa Condrey
If you enjoy reading and learning then the Amazon Kindle may be the new gadget for you. After all how often do you have the ability to bring 200 books with you? Yet only carry a few ounces of weight.

Also you have instant access to a dictionary and other reference manuals with a touch of a button. Not to mention the ability to browse and download best sellers, newspapers, and blogs on the fly.

If you want to conserve on battery life you can press Alt-A, and put your Kindle into sleep mode. If your reading and need to check the time press Alt-T, or press the search button and enter @time.

If you’re unsure about where you are or where you’re going? When in browser mode press Alt-1 and the Kindle will plot your current location on Google maps. Alt-2 will find nearby gas stations, and Alt-3 will find restaurants. You can use Alt-5 to create your own search.

You can also listen to free audio books on your Kindle and use online apps such as Yahoo messenger, Gmail, Google reader, and the mobile version of Google calendar.

Once you’ve found your way around the Kindle and have filled it up with those 200 book titles. You may discover that you have run out of room on your well stocked eBook reader. No worries. You can extend the storage capacity of your Kindle with a 4 or 8 GB SD or SDHC card.

Need a break from reading. Play a game of Mine Sweep on your Kindle. Here are the steps:

1. Go To Home Screen
2. Press Alt + Shift + m simultaneously
3. The game should appear, just follow navigational instructions on screen
4. Enjoy

The Kindle is also a picture viewer. If you would like to start a slide show, go to picture view mode and then press Alt + 0 this will initiate the slide show. You can use Alt + 1 to begin the slide show and Alt +2 to end it. It’s also possible to initiate a slide show of any document just press Alt + 0 while viewing and take it from there.

The Kindle is one of the coolest gadgets out there, and eBook readers are definitely the wave of the future. Imagine college students not having to lug around tons of heavy books and skipping those 4 hour book store lines all together. Not to mention the cost savings and instant updates and corrections.

Books aren’t going away but I think that eBook readers are going to become more popular and will quickly be part of the main stream. Imagine lying on a beach and browsing best sellers, actually deciding your vacation reading while on vacation instead of having to pack something that you hope will be interesting. Even Oprah is a fan of the Kindle. She says she likes to spend her Sunday morning reading the latest edition of the New York Times without even getting out of bed. EBook readers are definitely the wave of the future and the Kindle is a great beginning to this wave.

Shop online and experience amazing savings!

Thursday 11 December 2008 @ 4:12 pm

by Johara
To shop online is to experience a whole new world of thrills, bargains and sometimes, great peril. Let me explain: For many of us, online shopping is an alien concept. First-world countries have no problems with hopping online with a credit card and providing their details to buy the latest digital camera for a considerably cheaper price. Now try it for yourself and select a website that has a sweet deal; then pick your item and simply click checkout. It’s hard to do, isn’t it? That final step, the thought that something could go wrong between the millions of miles of fibre-optic cabling that is relaying your precious information back and forth, is the very same thought that makes you back out of your purchase. This little syndrome is called ‘shopping cart abandonment’ and it plagues the profits of many an online shopping website.

There are two sides to the online shopping process. I’m speaking about the buyer and the merchant, with both of these groups experiencing similar pitfalls and opportunities when it comes to the heady world of the internet. The customer needs to trust the website they browse in order for the merchant to secure a sale. The merchant needs to secure the trust of the customer in order to turn a profit. One hand feeds the other and this system is merely the digital equivalent of a real-life analogue shopping centre, only with an endless variety of choices. In a shopping centre however, there is not the constant worry of a thief duplicating your information and using your details for their ill-gotten gains. Thankfully, the internet has become wise to these cybercrimes and with the advent of security systems such as Paypal, SSL Encryption [an extra layer of security for data] and advanced firewalls software consumers can now rest assured that their information will remain their own

Never mind all these options though. No amount of clever jargon is going to convince you into shopping online if your mindset is not ready for virtual shopping. It’s not make-believe though, your transaction is real and the lack of a tangible item should not put you off buying your well-priced bargain of the century. Online shopping sites offer more than enough payment options; with local ones even accommodating debit orders.

Most products are suitable for online shopping, including fresh produce. Did you know that in countries such as the UK, the costs attached to shopping online and shopping inside a store are basically on par with each other? Certain stores even give discounts to customers who buy in bulk on their websites, offering free delivery and vouchers on occasion. The online shopping market is turning a massive profit, with total sales that have risen from less than $50 million to a stunning total of over $250 billion of combined profits. The biggest market online has to be clothing, which is unique and more than a little bit weird, as would it not be considered normal to want to try on a pair of shoes before purchasing them? Nevertheless, online users have flooded websites for orders ranging from shoes to tops and pants. The second most popular items for sale are computer and hardware parts, followed by auto parts and home furnishings. As you can see, food does not yet feature as a highly purchased commodity. Certain goods it seems are more safely purchased in person and inside a store.

If you have decided to head into the uncertain waters and shop online, I wish you the best of luck. Practice first, if you are unsure, using a well known online shopping website such as Amazon or eBay. These sites have cracked down on criminal activities and buying online with these giants is now as safe as it gets. Always remember, check your goods before the final step; practice plenty of price comparison and if an item looks dodgy, then it most likely is.

I want to shop online and came across interesting websites that lets him to doonline shopping.

How to Organize Your Life Better by Using Time Management Skills.

Wednesday 10 December 2008 @ 10:12 am

by steve betsworth
Time Management

How often have you herd someone say that they don’t have enough time to do something, that they are too busy and that there are not enough hours in the day? Time management is the key to improving success in your life, and with success will come increased self confidence and a general feeling that your development is aligned with your personal improvement goals. Here are a few tips that you may not have tried yet. Do tasks more thoroughly but less often. If you have to send a report every week and it takes a long time, would it be more efficient to send it every two weeks and just make it that little more detailed? It probably wouldn’t take twice as long. Take a look at the clock and commit yourself to having something completed by a certain time, and make sure you meet the goal. Some tasks are only small and don’t take long. Look closely at how many spare 15 minute periods you have in your day, and consciously use some of those to take care of the little tasks rather than building them all up and having more to do in one go. Don’t work on tasks endlessly. If the task at hand seems to big to get started, commit yourself to only doing it for 15 or 20 minutes and see how much you can get done. Then come back to it later and try to improve on the work you did previously.

Small stages of development

Success and personal growth and development will not and usually can not be an instant result. It is a process, a journey that should be savoured and no endured. If you examine all the different aspects of your working and personal life and see areas that you think could be altered for the better, then try to make small improvements. Just one notch of improvement can go a long way to making the ‘whole’ better. There is usually room for improvement even to a small degree in almost everything we do, so look closely and make that small change. Spend 10 minutes each day focussing one thing that interests you and don’t be distracted by anything else; soon enough you will be a complete expert on that one thing. This is a sure fire way to develop your personal self confidence, through acquiring knowledge and experience. If you can spend one hour each week studying in your chosen profession or skill you will see a notable difference over a month or two. It is not dissimilar to exercise, when you go for your first run, the next few runs are all painful and the progress is frustratingly slow, but after a few months the small increments of training pull together and the end result is huge. If you can dedicate the last minutes of each day to planning the next day, you will find that not only do things run more smoothly the next day, but that you will fee more confident in what you are doing at work.

Essential Tips for Effective Time Management

Friday 5 December 2008 @ 5:12 pm

by Don L.
Time is an important resource because it’s limited and not renewable. No matter who you are, you only have 24 hours a day. Besides, you can’t get back the time you lose. So the way you use your time makes a lot of difference in whether or not you will succeed in life. Consequently, your time management skill is an important skill to develop. The better you manage your time, the more you can achieve in life.

In this article, I’d like to share with you three time management tips I’ve found useful. Hopefully you will find them useful as well. Here they are:

1. Find your life purpose

Finding your life purpose is essential for effective time management because your life purpose determines how you should spend your time. You should build your life around your purpose. You should choose and do activities that help you achieve your life purpose. That’s why you need to find your purpose first. I know it’s not easy and it may take years before you know exactly what your life purpose is. But even some clues will be enough to get you started in effective time management.

2. Set your priorities based on your purpose

After you find your life purpose, you can set priorities on what to do and what not to do. Your purpose is the standard with which you should set your priorities. Things that support your purpose should be given higher priorities and things that don’t support your purpose should be given lower priorities. Since you already know what you want, it’s easier for you to assess the importance of every activity.

3. Eliminate unnecessary things

After setting your priorities, you will find things that have low priorities. Eliminate as many of them as possible. By eliminating them you simplify your life while at the same time free up your time for the more important things. It may be difficult to do that, but it’s necessary to make your life as effective as possible. By spending less time on the wrong things, you save your time. By spending more time on the right things, you increase your chance of success.

***

These three tips give you the foundation to effectively manage your time. By arranging your life around your life purpose, you are arranging the details of your life based on what is truly important for you. In the long term, it will give you a productive and fulfilling life.

Don writes about living life to the fullest. Read his article on finding life purpose and how to save time.
